Sunrise on the Reaping

Published in March 2025, Sunrise on the Reaping is the fifth book in Suzanne Collins’ Hunger Games series. It goes back to the morning of the reaping for the 50th Hunger Games, the Second Quarter Quell, when twice as many tributes are sent into the arena. Sixteen-year-old Haymitch Abernathy from District 12 is one of them. Readers know him as Katniss’s mentor; this book shows how he became that man. The film adaptation, directed by Francis Lawrence, opens in theaters on November 20, 2026.

Violet and Gold

The design uses 8 DMC colors. Three shades of violet (550, 552, 553) build the dark sky and the flames, four shades of gold and topaz (743, 783, 782, 780) make the title letters and the emblem, and a deep mahogany (400) outlines the details and adds French knots. The letters glow gold against the violet, like a sunrise on reaping day.

A Bookmark from Leftover Floss

All it takes is a 12 x 20 cm piece of white 16 count Aida and leftover floss from earlier projects. The finished bookmark is about 6 x 20 cm. The pattern has been created by a certified specialist and tested: every cross is exactly where it belongs, with no stray single stitches. On a different Aida count the finished size will change.

Please note: this is a downloadable digital pattern, not a ready-made item.
